There are some iPad applications showing up in Apple's iTunes store. How about that? And there are some demo videos on Apple's web page.
It also is the cover story in Newsweek this week.
I received a notice that mine (the first of two) has been shipped. Should arrive by Saturday. Can't wait! This is something really, really big. I am not really a very optimistic person lately, but technology is one of the "good" areas in our society. And, in my opinion, Apple is far and away the best.
I bought some Apple stock long ago at $7/share. Now it is $230 or so. Sure wish I had bought more. My broker tried to get me to sell it when it hit $80.
Brian wants one someday as a toy. Me, I'm at the point I wish I were rich enough to buy one just to destroy it. I'm iPad'd out thanks to the Apple fanatics swarming the Kindle board to tell us with 10000000 threads about how it's an e-reader and it's gonna destroy Kindle so kiss our Kindles goodbye. Nevermind it's really NOT an e-reader, it's more like a computer lite that happens to have an app for reading books, like any other computer can do. I'll be so glad when all of you who ordered them have them so maybe those people go away and our board is easy to find Kindle / Kindle book posts again ;)

The tv show "Modern Family" tonight featured a story line that had to do with standing in line, early in the morning, to buy an iPad as a birthday present. ABC's evening newscast had a demo of one. Except for Apple's own presentations, these are the first I have seen. Apparently the iPad's have been under very tight control!
I'm hoping that perhaps Vox will make an app for the iPad. I am certain that some of the blogging sites will.

I can see on-line that my iPad has been shipped, although it seems to be still in China. Anyhow, various blogs suggest that none will be delivered until the official release date of Saturday, April 3rd. Then, it is said, UPS will double its number of drivers: how is that for a "stimulus package?" Anyhow, I was hoping mine would arrive early, but apparently that is not to be.
There were iPad reviews today in the New York Times, USA Today, and the Chicago Sun-Times; probably a lot more, but those are the papers I saw. My dental assistant says that her IT-guy husband is thinking about buying Apple stock, even at its current price of $230 or so. I personally wouldn't be surprised if it went up to $400 eventually. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if we have another huge financial crash--after all, little has been done to prevent it, and the Republicans don't want to block the possibility. I wouldn't be surprised, actually, if the world came to an end. So my "projections" probably aren't the best basis for making personal financial decisions.

My iPad is in Anchorage AK. Do you think Sarah Palin might steal it?
Here are some more reviews.

LOL, Too funny!
Along that line (not about Apple but something else) last night I watched Law & Order SVU. Don't know if you watch.
One scene had the detectives talking about a case. Actor Richard Beltzer (who is a conspiracy theorist in real life) talked, in character, about how, since the Obama presidency began, there has been a huge increase in interest about white supremacy groups. Ice-T (the former rap music star) in character, replied, "Can we just keep the brother out of this?"
I thought that was pretty funny as well.

I wouldn't worry about Sarah, she wouldn't know what to do with it unless someone explained it to her.
As for stock... Not that Apple is bad, but I'd go for insurance companies before Apple myself.

My iPad has arrived in Louisville KY. Now they have to get it up here before end-of-day tomorrow. Probably they will. For sure, Sarah didn't get her hands on it. Probably she is out practicing on the rifle range, getting ready to help overthrow the government. Guns are simpler to use than computers. And it is easier to destroy things, to wreck them, than to create them, to build them up.

DA, I am unhappy with my comment about guns being easier to use than computers. The whole point of the iPad is that it is easy to use, practically transparent. There is no operating system in the way, and no extra hardware either. Any dummy could use one, I think. And I imagine that for sure a lot of older people, who missed the computer revolution, will; and children, and really just about everybody.
Mine has left Louisville now (5 am). That doesn't sound to me much like it will get here this morning. :(
